INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). As an Instructor of Network Management, you will serve as a faculty team member. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach courses in Network Management; curriculum and program development and/or revision including program review and the development and assessment of student outcomes for courses and programs; working with community and campus organizations; participating in department, division and college committees; maintain currency in the discipline and otherwise fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of instructional staff or faculty.
  • Develop criteria for testing, assignments, and other instruments to evaluate student proficiency as well as responsibility for developing, annually updating, and maintaining course/program assessments.
  • Develop student assignments, schedules, selects appropriate methods of instruction and determines assessment and evaluation criteria.
  • Maintain statistical records/data of student proficiency and attendance and other records consistent with course objectives and college policies.
  • Conduct classroom activities which include lectures, audio visual materials, field trips, group discussion, laboratories, and other educational practices for the classroom.
  • Develop lesson plans and other guides required to meet the goal of training student and leading them in their field of academic study.
  • Represent SIPI at professional conferences, workshops and seminars; maintains professional contact with industry and government or with colleges and universities in the state and nation.
  • Serve a faculty advisor and mentor for students.

Applicants must meet the Alternative Qualification Standard, Professional Instructor Series 1701, Bureau of Indian Education.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Master's Degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major course of study in the appropriate specialty education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position (typically a degree in the field of Network Management or similar field).

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement listed above, qualification for the GS-1701-11 position is:

For GS-11: 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least GS-09 grade level.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience performing duties such as: serving as a full-time Instructing in a college or equivalent education institution developing, researching, and administering course syllabi, materials, labs and activities; delivering lectures and presentations; and evaluating students' progress on standards based approach; collaborated with faculty on maintaining accreditation requirements; developed culturally relevant material; served on or chaired numerous committees which dealt with issues such as curriculum (all subject areas), goals and objectives, standardized testing, staff selection, policy and negotiations.

**Selective Factor: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements above, candidates must possess required certifcation as a CISCO Network Administrator and A+.

Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation upon request. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.
