Dermatology Section Chief at the New Mexico VA Health Care System and University of New Mexico School of Medicine
The New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) and the University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine Department of Dermatology are seeking a Board-certified/Board-eligible dermatologist to serve as a Section Chief of Dermatology at NMVAHCS. Candidates must also qualify for an academic appointment at UNM at the level of associate or full professor. A candidate with a track record of excellence in leadership is preferred.
The Successful candidate will have active participation in outpatient consultations, procedures and inpatient care, administrative and leadership duties, mentorship responsibility for junior faculty, and direct involvement in undergraduate and graduate medical education including supporting the academic mission of the growing Department of Dermatology at UNM. An exciting opportunity for Residency Program Director also exists for an individual with particular interest in teaching.

The Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center of NMVAHCS is a tertiary teaching hospital providing cutting-edge clinical care in dermatology supported through the Medicine Service. Our patient population is diverse and the pathology quite fascinating, with a large volume of skin malignancies as well as other dermatoses, both common and rare. - Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Board Certification/Eligibility is preferred, but not required, as the New Mexico VAHCS is affiliated with the University of New Mexico and is an academic facility.
