Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Residence at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Clerk II to support the department’s Administrative Services unit. This position will support student contracting, assignments, and billing for on-campus housing and student meal plans. This position will be primarily responsible for providing customer service and support for on-campus residence halls, but will be cross-trained in all areas of on-campus housing as necessary. Duties include determining eligibility for housing, performing data entry, and responding in person or via telephone, e-mail, letter, and/or fax to customer inquiries about processes and procedures, in addition to customer requests for assignment changes, meal plans, and fees.

The successful candidate will have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, work with diverse groups of people, and problem solve. The ability to understand and explain complex and important information; demonstrate discretion, accuracy, and clear communication; and general office management skills including file management, reception, data entry and analysis, and strong customer service focus are also necessary to succeed in this position.

Required Qualifications

Any combination of clerical office experience, undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to one year of full time employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with housing management.

Experience working with college-aged individuals.

Experience working in a highly communicative professional environment.

Customer service experience, including providing service to difficult/demanding customers.

Experience working with computers in an office environment including Microsoft Office programs and applications.
