Paralegal (Corporate Legal Department)

PAE is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Paralegal to support its corporate legal department in Arlington, VA. This position will primarily work on Paralegal related tasks and will also support Contracts Administration tasks. Ideal candidates will be self-starters who are capable of working independently.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assists attorneys with business registration in foreign (primarily non-US) jurisdictions

  • Coordinates document legalization procedures

  • Liaises with outside counsel on evidentiary and budget matters

  • Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents

  • Administers company’s contracts database (Effacts)

  • Administers company information in federal government contractor database (SAM)

  • Serves as liaison for the legal department for vendors and accounts payable, may complete purchase requisitions for outside counsel and other vendors; monitor and track outside counsel budgets

  • Summarizes depositions and other transcripts

  • Maintains case files

  • Performs legal research

  • Indexes, tracks and manages document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery)

  • Indexes, tracks exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial

  • Manages communications and instructions for legal holds on company records

  • May assist with M&A due diligence and transactional closings

  • Prepares exhibit cross-references

  • Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria

  • May assist with administration of contracts

  • May assist with corporate governance

Minimum Requirements:

  • Paralegal certificate preferred; an equivalent level of legal training may be considered

  • Demonstrated ability to review a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal, to become familiar with the issues, and identify pertinent material; establish and maintain an effective system of compiling, indexing, and organizing this information and its sources

  • Experience with business registration in foreign jurisdictions

  • Experience with document retrieval databases, i.e., iPro and Relativity and the ability to perform legal research in Lexis/Nexis or Westlaw

  • At least two to five years of paralegal experience required

  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to remain organized and work on multiple high priority projects simultaneously

  • Ability to manage outside counsel and other vendor budgets

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
