The Safety Specialist will be based at PAE's Union III site located in Baghdad, Iraq and serve the Life Support Services contract in support of the State Department and report to the Safety Manager. The additional duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive: - Support coordinating review, incorporation and collaboration for incumbent data and site specific requirements to develop the safety plan and TOR/site specific guidance - Collection, incorporation of data into the Rivo system, notifications, assignments and coordination of outstanding safety related actions for significant events, incidents and activities - Support performing inspections, validating TOR/Site submitted data and investigation of reported issues or negative performance trends for the Safety Manager's review which includes communication and coordination with the customer (as required), subcontractors and employees and management - Coordination meeting with Site Safety Specialist and stakeholders for verification of compliance with safety program requirements, to include training, metrics and statistics and recommendations for implementing further improvements within the TOR or Site - Collection of reports and data from the housing and life support coordinators related to safety and compliance with applicable laws - Changes within the Rivo training module and safety modules for modifications to safety training matrix and coordination with training teaming partners, certification institutes and other affiliates as required - Verification of safety record, inspection, report and notifications within the Rivo system for PMO and TOR/site stakeholders - Monthly meeting with PMO and Site Management and Safety stakeholders to review safety trends, instances and opportunities for continuous improvement


  • Citizenship: US Citizenship Not Required - Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education is required. - Experience: - 3+ years of experience in Environmental, Safety and Health - Board certification in Safety (CSP) or Certification by a Department of Defense recognized association - OSHA 1926 Construction 500 & OSHA 1910 General Industry 501 - Current Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response - 40 hour - Home of Record Driver’s License – no restrictions - 3+ years experience on Department of Defense Installation - 1 year of experience with Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (DoD 4715) and experience with Title 40, US Environmental Protection Agency - Certified in FEMA ICS Command Staff level course (Safety Officer) - Security Vetting: Must possess a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) security clearance, maintaining eligibility for the duration of the contract - Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination - Language Skills: Expert professional, oral and written English communication skills, to present, facilitate and disseminate information - Work Ethic: Commitment to maintaining a high performance team which delivers customer service excellence DESIRED: - Department of State experience - Five to seven (3-5) years’ of international experience in challenging locations, preferably working in the Middle East, with a working knowledge of customs and cultural differences OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge of all principles and processes involved in ESH - Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Must be flexible and able to adapt to abnormal and austere environments - Must have Team Concept - Strong people skills, public speaking, and facilitation - Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project and Powerpoint - Must be able to make timely and accurate decisions - Define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts and propose solutions - Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently, cross-cultural sensitivity and international perspective - Collect, analyze and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports - Experience in effectively dealing with international and headquarters staff, and sensitivity to other cultures - Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently - Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and administrative details in a fast paced and constantly changing environment - Must have the ability to be innovative and be an agent for change PAE is an equal opportunity employer and drug-free workplace.
