MK-30 Underwater Target Electronics Tech I


The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.

Responsible for the MK-30 Underwater Target Maintenance and Configuration documentation, perform handling, preparation and post run of the target and associated equipment in accordance with NAVSEA guidelines.


  • Performs the functions of the MK-30 Target Documentation Specialist to include but not limited to the Satellite Librarian, Maintenance and Configuration of documents/drawings, MK-30 IMA Status Reports, upload/download geometry/acoustic packages and the Hands On Training booklet (HOT) utilizing the NAVESEA/NAVAIR Systems and Procedures.

  • Perform the duties of the Target system Controller (TSC) during real-time test operations.

  • Perform the handling, preparation/post-run of the MK-30 Targets utilizing the Cat-3 overhead cranes during peak periods.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • AA/AS degree in Electronics or military equivalent.

  • 2 year related experience working in Electronic /Electrical Technology environment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a certificate for MK-30 Target of Operations Course within 1 year and Overhead Cat 3 Course within 3 months of hire.

  • Digital and analog troubleshooting skills required

  • Lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds of material

  • Pass a physical exam yearly for or as required

  • Excellent communications skills to interface with all levels of personnel in a multi-cultural team-oriented environment

  • Analytical to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems

  • Attention to details

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word and Excel)

  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required

  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.

  • A valid US Passport and Driver’s License is required.
