Business Leader, Business Expansion


The primary responsibility of this role is to develop new opportunity with key merchants, mobile network operators and government institutions/ministries besides the traditional banking partnership.

The main objective of this job is to open (new) opportunities that will drive the world beyond cash. This could be by replacing cash as merchants, working on new payment solution enabling B2G or G2C payments with government institutions or licensing mobile network operators with the view to accelerate business growth for MasterCard share and volume while identifying new revenue streams.

This individual will report into the Country Manager, Thailand and will need to work with key constituents both internally (market development, global products & solutions, legal, franchise and finance teams), as well as external resources (customers and merchants, regulators and third party service providers) to ensure seamless execution of the strategy.

Experience in leading multiple projects; able to quickly grasp new ideas; able to simplify strategy into specific actions with clear accountability is essential.


All market development activities for the Thailand market, including relationships with key merchants, mobile network operators and government institutions that can bring additional payment volume.

Understand business strategies and deliver against targets that benefit the Country€™s P&L; specifically it must increase MasterCard€™s processed volume, market share and revenue in the nontraditional financial institution space.

Leverage all MasterCard brand sponsorship properties and product management resources to deliver exceptional new business value.

Develop strong relationships between MasterCard and the market parties across all operational functions (product management, operations, processing and acquiring), as well as senior management of these customers.

Support and/or lead countrywide initiatives as part of a broader approach

Develop financial modeling and business cases for identified opportunities

Develop sales pipeline leveraging all available resources in coordination with the product development and account management teams

May work with Customer Account Managers to identify opportunities to sell new products to existing customers

Participate in high-level, interactive conversations with key decision makers around new or emerging product opportunities

Analyze customers€™ existing business through profitability modeling, financial forecasting and competitive analysis and recommend opportunities for additional revenue

Assist with the development of long-term growth strategies to optimize mutual profitability across debit and credit business lines

Work with virtual team of MC subject matter experts to strategically articulate value propositions to close new business opportunities

Develop financial modeling and business cases for identified opportunities

Execute and manage the customer contract agreement process, ensuring global linkage of resources and information sharing

All About You

Significant progressive business, technology/operations and sales experience with demonstrated success.

Bachelor€™s Degree required. MBA or Masters.

Good understanding of payment technology €“ e.g. cards, EMV, mobile payments, eCommerce and Internet/Mobile banking

Strong network of business contacts in the card and payments industry

Experience of working with financial institutions, mobile network operators and government ministries.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment resulting in high-quality output.

Strong financial skills are a must including budget and forecasting experiences.

Effectively interact at all levels of the organization from senior level executives to individual contributors.

Familiarity with the account teams and MasterCard's financial process a plus.

Understanding MasterCard products and services (or ability to learn these quickly)

Superb project management skills. Highly organized; detail-oriented

Ability to identify issues before they develop into problems; proactively resolve issues directly or through escalation to appropriate partners.
