Generator Mechanic Lead

This is a lead technician that is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repairs to operating spot generators, standby generators, portable generators, and light carts. The successful candidate is familiar with and uses the appropriate supply systems, inventory control procedures, and hazardous material / waste management procedures.

In addition: Completes relevant records and assists with reports; Performs maintenance on coolant, oil and fuel systems; Responds to 24-hour emergency calls to repair remote generator systems; Performs other duties as assigned;

ED U C A TION A N D C E RTIFI C A TION REQU I REMENT S :

Re q ui r ed:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Pr e f er r ed:

  • College or Technical Course in related field.

W ORK EX P ERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Re q ui r ed:

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in electrical power generation equipment maintenance

  • Requires a deep understanding of a variety of diesel generator engines.

  • Requires good understanding of power generation, engine maintenance and minor overhauls; operational safety, structured generatorand component engine maintenance programs.

Pr e f er r ed:

  • Knowledge of principles of engine maintenance and major overhauls, including generation, types, capacity and purpose of drawings and technical publications, technique of operating; and maintaining internal combustion engines; generators plants, use and purpose of test equipment; safety rules and practices; environmental policies

  • 2000 KVA and smaller Diesel Engines to include: Caterpillar, Cummins, Mitsubishi, and FG Wilson Power Generation Engines

  • Driver’s License from home country;

K N O W LEDGE SKIL L S A ND A BILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

LANGUAGE SK I LL S :

  • English – excellent reading, writing and speaking skills

  • Communicates clearly and concisely to supervision and management

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical documents

M A T HEM A T IC A L S KI LLS:

  • Basic weights, measures and simple calculations

  • Capable of both basic math and electrical calculations

ABI L I TIES :

  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot engine malfunctions

  • Work independently in the absence of supervision

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, walk, stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Understand the basic principle of Combustion Engines

  • Understand and comply with ESH standards

  • Ability to perform effectively in austere environment

Securi t y Vet t ing: Already possess a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification prior to being hired is required for the position. Candidate must maintain eligibility at the required certification level for the duration of the contract.

Language S kil l s: Strong, professional, oral and written English communication skills.

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required
