Custodian Supervisor 2

Classified Technician and Skilled Trades

40%- Works under the direct authority of a Supervisor 3. Schedules, assigns, and supervises work performed by custodial crew. Performs inspection of work to insure completion and quality of work done by the crew.

10% - Responsible for the safekeeping keys for the locking/unlocking of campus buildings and classrooms for academic activities.

5 %- Supervises the cleaning and arrangement of furniture, fixtures, and décor by custodial crews.

5%- Oversees the preparation and disassembly by crews of assigned areas and equipment for upcoming Special Events.

10%- Prepares and maintain all documentation regarding time, leave, personnel evaluation, counseling, disciplinary action, accident/incident reports, supply requisition and training for their assigned custodial crew.

5%- Prepares and provide orientation and training for new employees.

15%- Supervise crew during major operations such as pressure washing buildings, walks, windows and other exterior building surfaces. May supervise student workers on occasion. Oversees the preparation, and application, (spraying, fogging) of unrestricted pesticides.

10%- Inspects and reports needed building and equipment repairs to Superintendent or Maintenance Department Supervisors. May provide transportation for custodial staff, supplies and equipment via agency vehicles. Performs any other necessary task commensurate with the position of a Supervisor 2.


One year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or food service work.

Custodian Supervisor 2

Oversees the daily operations of an 8 to 12 member custodial staff servicing the

Facilities of a University campus ranging in size between 200,000 to 300,000 square feet.

Special requirements:

"Due to the nature of this position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67 ". In accordance with PS-18 this position maybe required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure". This position requires the ability to lift at least 20 pounds, walk and stand, bend ascend and descent stairs throughout the day and move furniture and or equipment of at least 20 pounds.

Additional Position Information:

Pay above $10.80/hr will depend on qualifications of candidate selected.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from Custodian Supervisor 1 by responsibility for direct supervision over a custodian crew composed of 8-15 Custodians performing custodian duties in state buildings having between 160,000-300,000 square feet.

Differs from Custodian Supervisor 3 by lack of responsibility for supervising a custodian crew composed of 18-25 Custodians and subordinate Custodian Supervisors performing custodian duties in state buildings having 320,000-460,000 square feet.

Note: When job assignments do not fall exactly within the above criteria, allocation decisions will be determined on a case by case basis.

Examples of Work

Supervises the work performed by Custodian Supervisors and Custodians in directing floor maintenance operations in large agencies with numerous buildings and custodial employees.

Assists administrators in the preparation of service-related budgets, if required.

Keeps and maintains time, attendance, cost effectiveness building services, and floor maintenance records.

Makes recommendations to supervisors concerning new cleaning solutions, floor maintenance equipment, and related floor maintenance matters.

Conducts in service training classes for Custodians, Custodian Supervisors, and housekeeping personnel in proper methods of custodial and floor maintenance.

Performs related duties necessary for the proper maintenance of floors.
