Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, North Dakota. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Clinical Pharmacist for direct clinical pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient services at the Service Unit. This position is considered as the major source of pharmaceutical clinical information and is expected to manage selected patients with chronic disease states, as well as providing pharmaceutical care for acute patients. This position will report to the Chief Pharmacist. The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3. Conducts clinic authorized outpatient pharmacy clinics for examination, diagnosis and treatment of specialized patients.
Serve as a therapeutic consultant to the medical staff.
Provide formal and informal education and in-services to medical staff, pharmacy, nursing staff as requested.
Work with physicians to develop protocols for medical and administrative research related to pharmacy.
Collaborates with other health professionals to develop treatment protocols, standards of practice and policies.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): EDUCATION: Four-year bachelor's degree in pharmacy recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education. LICENSURE: Except for research positions that do not entail patient care, all applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Additional Requirements for Grades GS-09 and Above For GS-12: One year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least GS-11; Medical Requirements Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
SPECALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized is defined as work involved in providing specialty services to all patient care services areas and provides pharmaceutical care for acute patients. Major source of pharmaceutical clinical information and is expected to manage selected patients with chronic disease states.
The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Work is performed on regular and assigned basis: however, the incumbent may be required to be on call back duty or required to work beyond normal duty hours to complete assignments or to ensure coverage. At times, change in shifts may be required to meet the workload demands or complete a project/tasks.
