Our Client is a Mid-size Manufacturing and privately owned Company located in the Allentown, PA area. If you are an Controller or Director of Accounting with strong operational hands on skills, drive and desire to take the next career step into a growing organization I want to hear from you. They are a mid-sized Manufacturing organization with an immediate opening for a Controller. This extremely hands on role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for ensuring financial integrity and accuracy through daily management of General Accounting, Payroll and Cash Management, problem-solving processes, and strong internal controls. The ideal Controller will assist in the development of financial plans and forecasts and the analysis of operational results; provide leadership and direction to the finance department staff; develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the plant's business and related issues.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP
Responsible for evaluating the performance of the staff in the Accounting Department. This includes, responsibility for recommending training, also has the skills to train and keep the staff at the highest level of skills to perform the best to the company's objectives and needs.
Develop appropriate accounting, analysis and reporting formats, procedures/policies and schedules to support the reporting and analysis process.
Manage the company's federal, state and local tax compliance requirements and timely filings
Drive month end close activities including preparation of month end close calendar, posting of journal entries and preparation and submission of the financial package
Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and annual forecasts ( including the cost accounting systems), and analyzes reports variances.
Direct supervision of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable,
Coordinate with the FP&A function to generate annual operating plans and quarterly forecasts
Responsible in developing and refining processes and standards including streamlining and improving workflows
Manage the annual audit and quarterly review activities in partnership with external auditors including proactive communication and alignment with auditors on complex accounting matters
Other related duties and ad hoc projects as required by position and assigned by the CFO
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
A demonstrated ability to simultaneously administer and coordinate multiple, ongoing projects, ensuring that they are implemented effectively within targeted timelines and costs.
Strong management and leadership skills to direct a professional staff, promote team effort and develop strong working relationships across functional and division lines.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business, from an accredited Institution
Minimum 4 years of Finance experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum 10 years of managerial experience in Finance or Accounting
CPA or MBA required
