Description -

  • Preparation and prosecution of original patent applications

  • Drives the development of legal strategies by providing specialized legal expertise in patent law, particularly in patent development.

  • Shares growing expertise within patent development with other team members and with clients through both informal and formal training and mentoring.

  • Identifies and resolves complex legal issues requiring in-depth knowledge and judgment within patent law.

  • Impact includes addressing issues facing multiple client organizations

Education and Experience Required

Advanced university degree in law (e.g. JD or LLB); additional advanced degree relevant to the specialty preferred.

Meets local legal license requirements.

Typically 6-10 years patent experience at a law firm or in-house.

Advanced level of experience in one or more specialty law practice areas acquired through being a leading resource in-house or in similar industry or law firm environment.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Advanced breadth and depth of practical and academic knowledge of intellectual property law and practice, with demonstrated expertise in patent law and patent development.

Strong knowledge of company policies and procedures preference

Awareness of the international legal environment for the specific legal concentration.

Technical degree, typically in EE, CS, ME, Physics, Chemistry, or the like.

Proactive and effective communicator of valuable information to clients and colleagues.

English language skills to business standard strongly preferred.
