LPN Nursing Assistant

FLSA Status: Non - Exempt

Position Type: Part-Time Non-Benefitted

Responsible to: Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator, Business Partnerships / Center for Workforce Development.



This person is responsible to assist the RN teacher in the training and supervision of students during the classroom lab and clinical component of the Nursing Assistant Course and related health education programs as directed. Position responsibilities also include classroom organization as well as ensuring effective utilization of resources including supplies and time management.

  • Conveys by words and action the values expected by College of Western Idaho (CWI.)
  • Ensure that all program activities and personnel follow CWI Center for Workforce Development, State of Idaho, and national governing bodies’ regulations, policies, procedures, and goals.
  • Actively teach and participate in program instruction as appropriate to credentials.
  • Work with the RN Nursing Assistant Course Teacher and the Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator to facilitate and manage the correction of any deficiencies.
  • Manage self/student compliance of agreements/contracts and the rules and regulations of clinical facilities.
  • Maintain open communication links with RN Teachers, Program Coordinator and appropriate facility representative(s).
  • Work with Program Coordinator to manage efficient use of program supplies and to present supply requisitions in a timely fashion.
  • Review and plan for sufficient student clinical attendance.
  • Assume responsibility to maintain positive and effective student, teacher, resident, facility employee and resident family relationships.
  • Respond to, report, manage, and resolve classroom, teacher, and student issues according to CWI and appropriate clinical site policies/procedures.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings/weekends to meet a diverse course schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Nursing Assistant Licensed Nurse Qualifications
  • Have successfully completed the basic curriculum of an approved practical nursing education program or its equivalent and to have passed the examination required for licensure as approved by the Idaho State Board of Nursing.
  • License must be in good standing without restriction or limitation with the Idaho State Board of Nursing.
  • Be of sufficiently sound physical and mental health so as not to impair or interfere with the ability to practice nursing.
  • Experience with instruction in educational theory or techniques
  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical practice which includes performing or observing the administrative and clinical activities relevant to nursing assistants in long term/acute health care settings.
  • A minimum understanding of basic Microsoft Office programs.


  • Prior experience teaching adult learners in classroom and clinical settings.
  • Familiarity with rules governing long term care and facilities in which Nursing Assistants are actively employed.
