Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary OPHTHALMOLOGY GRANT ADMINISTRATOR in Boston, Massachusetts

Description As a member of the Ophthalmology research administrative team for Schepens Eye Research Institute/ Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, the incumbent performs research administration duties required for financial management of grant awards (pre- and post-awards) in direct support of the Dept. of Ophthalmology’s research faculty and staff. The incumbent serves as a front-line resource for researchers in the Department, acting as a liaison to internal administrative units and external sponsors on matters relating to ophthalmology research financial management.

Requirements College degree with 1 to 3 years experience in research administration (highly preferable); business or accounting is desired. M.S., M.B.A. or equivalent preferred.

Strong organizational, problem solving, customer service and interpersonal skills, along with keen fiscal and accounting skills and attention to detail are needed. Effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to coordinate multiple job tasks and to work independently to identify, investigate and resolve problems, prioritize and complete responsibilities (often within strict deadlines) with minimal supervision are required. Familiarity with and understanding of principles, methods, systems, processes, and regulatory requirements related to research administration are needed. Proficiency in MS Office software (Access, Excel, Word) is vital.
