Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Senior Scientific Associate in boston, Massachusetts

Description The Grousbeck Gene Therapy Center Vandenberghe lab is in search of a Ph.D. trained molecular biologist with extensive animal experience and viral vector manufacturing background. A senior staff position is open with (a) independent research, (b) oversight and management, and (c) administrative responsibilities. The Grousbeck Gene Therapy Center’s mission is to develop gene therapies for diseases with unmet need, and ultimately bring gene therapy to the clinic as a genuine therapeutic modality. In the Vandenberghe laboratory, our work is focused on developing a deeper understanding of the biology of somatic and therapeutic in vivo gene transfer, on building technologies to enable clinical gene therapy, and on moving preclinical programs to clinical application. Here, we seek a Ph.D. level scientist with postdoctoral experience to lead the manufacturing and animal models programs in our Center. We seek a highly motivated individual who will perform independent research as well as oversee other staff in his/her group. Animal model responsibilities are to guide in vivo gene therapy experiments of the program and collaborators, maintain the colonies, and oversee staff that assists in these functions. Manufacturing is currently a largely independent research function aimed at developing large scale and GMP compatible vector manufacturing. The division of effort between the 2 programs will be evaluated on an ongoing basis with the PI. Interested individuals should address a single PDF file with the following (a) Cover letter, (b) CV, (c) the names and contact information of 3 references including their last employer. The PDF file name should be in the following format YYMMDD_LASTNAME.pdf.
