This position is located in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Production Department Electrical Group at Bremerton, Washington. The incumbent will assist in the performance of electronic and mechanical work in the overhaul, repair modification, installation, test, adjustment, and alignment of complex electronics equipment and devices.


As an Electronics Mechanic your duties include but not limited to:

  • Diagnosing components to determine corrective action necessary to repair elements of electronic equipment.
  • Applying knowledge of electrical theory and the practical aspects of the trade for making repairs.
  • Replacing electronic components such as integrated circuits, chips, transistors or diodes utilizing schematics or blueprints.
  • Operating computerized automatic test equipment to follow specified check-out procedures or compare readings with specified values.

  • In accordance with Executive Order 12564, applicants selected are required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP) subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.   • Must be able to lift and carry Sixty (60) pounds and heavier items with assistance.

  • Work is frequently carried out in tan industrial area while working aboard surface ships, submarines and in shops. Sometime conditions require walking on uneven surfaces and in areas adjacent to moving equipment. There may be danger of falling from ladders and through hatches.

  • Incumbent may be exposed to harmful agents such as high level noise, fumes, dust, heat and chemicals.

  • Must wear protective equipment when and where required and also required to take medical examinations to assess his/her medical qualifications for hazardous work.
