Bristol Hospital Diet Technician in Bristol, Connecticut
ADA approved Associate Degree in Dietetics and currently registered as a Dietetic Technician or registry-eligible. Minimum of 6 months as a Dietetic Technician in a hospital or extended care facility. Food Handler's Certification.
Coordinates Diet Office work flow as it relates to diet order, menu management and inter-departmental communication. Coordinates the appropriate use of enteral formulas. Works closely with clinical dietitians by communicating relevant patient information in the performance of their duties. Assists the Food Service Manager in patient menu planning. As requested, initiates diet orders, as per policies. Supervises Nutrition Assistants and Food Service Aides as assigned. Maintains current policies and procedures related to Diet Office functions. Maintains DTR status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Clinical knowledge that includes modified diet therapy, basic disease management, enteral formulas, and basic nutrition assessment skills. Ability to provide clear and effective verbal and written communication. Ability to open and close the Food & Nutrition department, assign work, oversee the tray line, and make appropriate decisions. Ability to follow directions. Ability to be patient-focused and relate well with co-workers.
