Nurse Practitioner: Salary, $64,036to $106,756 per year. Physician Assistant: Salary, $58,562 to $108,507per year

The Physician Assistant (PA) /Nurse Practitioner (NP) will functions as a professional providing medication management to assigned panel of Mental Health patients at a Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Consultations with patients with atypical findings or new diagnosis. Schedules appropriate follow-up and provides additional health care service in a cost-effective manner.. Coordinates and monitors the out come of the referral and integrates any recommend treatments into the management plan. Help fill out disability forms, conducts history and physicals, according to required time frame in the clinic and see patients presenting to the clinic as well. Consistently formulates and assists others in the formulation of the individualized written plan of care which reflects synthesis of assessment data, etiology, diagnoses and unique patient/family needs and plans programs to improve the delivery of patient care.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Education or Training:The candidate must meet one of the following: (1) A bachelor's degree from a physician assistant (PA) training program which is certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA); or (2) Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a bachelor's degree in a health care occupation or a health-related science; or (3) Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a period of progressively responsible health care experience such as an independent duty medical corpsman, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, medical technologist, or medical technician. The duration of approved academic training and health care experience must total at least 5 years.
Certification: As of March 12, 1993, certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) is a requirement for employment. This requirement does not apply to non-certified PAs on VA rolls as of that date.
Physical Standards:* Drug Testing and Physical:*All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment is a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.A pre-employment physical examination shall be made to determine the physical and mental fitness of candidates for appointment in the VA.Physical examination must be satisfactorily completed.
English Language Proficiency: As appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
2 years experience as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioner
NOTE: Must be Nationally Certified Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements: This position requires visual activity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires a combination of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, pulling, and pushing with potentially long periods of sitting. Transferring patients and objects may occasionally be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or during patient procedures and care. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. Use of fingers, both hands, and near vision is required.
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
