The SAP Digital Business Services Centre of Expertise (CoE) is responsible for helping SAP’s Premium Engagement and Enterprise Support customers make the most of their investment in SAP software. The CoE is a global team and we are now looking to expand the team in Australia by establishing an ANZ CoE team in Canberra to support our Australian public sector customers.

Our DBS Centre of Expertise team is looking for a Senior Engineer/Architect for complex projects. The role of the Senior Support Engineer/Support Architect UX/UI architect is:

  • To be the link between Management and the UX/UI teams actually performing the work.

  • Identify all the development and UX/UI inputs required to implement a specific solution landscape.

  • Drill-down to the details with the Development, UX/UI , Business and Functional teams.

  • Facilitate across project lines, i.e., between various project teams both technical and non-technical.

A successful UX/UI architect is not “only” an experienced consultant or engineer, but also an innovator, strategist, diplomat, consultant, and leader. As an architect and innovator the architect will have broad SAP product knowledge, an awareness of the latest development and UX/UI trends as well as have visibility of much of the breadth of the SAP solution. As a strategist, leader and consultant the architect role will include:

  • Understanding that sometimes the biggest problem will not be technical.

  • Clear communication and presentation is a necessity at all levels on the project.

  • Ability to influence the key players and convince the stake holders.

  • Listening, negotiation and networking.

  • Expect to communicate across a broad spectrum of user communities - CIO, project managers, UX/UI teams, development teams etc.


You will be part of a highly motivated and skilled expert team responsible for delivering successful outcomes in customer projects and production operational areas.

In your role as an SAP UX/UI Architect, you responsibilities will include:

Generic Responsibilities:

  • To deliver UX/UI architecture and solutions based on business and functional requirements

  • Assess and review design for UX/UI aspects

  • Serve as the focal point for UX/UI issues

  • Provide direction on UX/UI standards and guidelines


  • Design of UX/UI architecture – identification of software components required to deliver business functionality (blueprint), based on input from Functional Solution

  • Contributes to, and architects, relevant architectural principles.

  • Performance assessment and tuning of requirements’ assessment using SAP tools and benchmarks.

  • Collaboration with local project teams and partner community on development and UX/UI aspects of projects and requirements.

  • Assist SAP teams (pre-sales, support, consulting, resourcing) with aspects related too.

  • Ability to liaise with SAP product, solution and development management teams.

  • Perform development and UX/UI reviews, as required.

  • As part of the next generation tools and game changers at SAP, involved as part of a wider SAP team in driving the UX/UI vision through the SAP ecosystem, leveraging the internal SAP networks.

Applicants for this role will need to reside in Canberra and be able to meet the Australian Federal Government requirements for citizenship, nationality and security clearance


  • Degree or qualification with relevant work experience.

  • Various certifications supporting and demonstrating knowledge of SAP

  • Relevant industry certifications highly desirable

  • Extensive experience as a SAP developer, senior developer, advisory consultant across various customer industries.

  • Experience with SAP UI technologies

  • Experience in Web UI programming skills (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS)

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (e.g. D3.js, jQuery, RequireJS, KnockoutJS, AngularJS, NodeJS etc.)

  • Experience with SAP Fiori / SAP UI5 Application development

  • Experience with SAP NetWeaver Gateway Integration

  • Knowledge of UI Design Patterns and Interactions

  • Knowledge of current trends in software design, architecture and web technologies

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

  • Team player with an agile mindset

  • Object oriented programming skills (e.g. Java, C , Python)

  • Extensive experience in working with 3rd Party Technologies and Solutions

  • Some experience in working with Mobile Solutions.

  • Experience with SAP ABAP development is plus

  • Experience with any SAP Functional Domain is definitely a plus


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with SAP UX / UI Implementation projects

  • Experience in defining a customer User Experience Strategy

  • Minimum of 1 year experience developing and implementing SAP FIORI applications.
