Position Objective
The successful individual will be part of R&D group developing next generation sequencing technology based on semiconductor sequencing.This position is part of the pivotal and growing Ion Torrent team and is based in Carlsbad.
Essential Funcitons:
This group will focus on validation and verification activity related to Ion Torrent products.In addition, the group will also be involved in early system integration activities between research and development.
Tasks:
·Prepare samples for the Personal Genome Machine
·Participate in maintenance, operations and running of the Personal Genome Machines and related instruments
·Retrieve data from sequencing and perform initial performance analysis
·Perform activities related to executing the protocol
·May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Education:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, chemistry or related field
Experience/Requirements:
Required: 3-5years experience in industry preferred
·General molecular biology techniques; experience in PCR optimization and next generation sequencing good to have
·Perform standard laboratory math calculations and solutions/media preparation
·Proven experience manipulating DNA and purification
·Strong teamwork orientation with demonstrable influence/interpersonal skills
·High proficiency in excel required
·Basic statistical analysis required
