Booz Allen Hamilton Database Engineer in Charleston, South Carolina

SPARC, an Agile Systems Delivery Hub of Booz Allen Hamilton, is seeking qualified candidates for a Database Engineer position in the Charleston, SC area.

The Database Engineer role is a new position being established as part of our new Data Science competency. The candidate would be supporting a larger team of data scientists and analysts in bringing understanding to information by creating supporting data views and processing. Additionally, the candidate will have the ability to help establish and grow our Data Science competency. The candidate should be motivated and capable of operating with minimal guidance, while also participating as a member of the team. This includes the ability to present technical solutions to peers.

The Must-Haves:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, or abilities listed below:

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-Must live in the Charleston, SC area or be willing to relocate

-3 years of database administration or engineering within Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server

-Proficiency in SQL programming

-Experience with ETL via custom scripts or tools (ie. Microsoft BizTalk)

-Experience working in a cloud environment (ie. Amazon EC2)

-Experience in securing sensitive data using encryption

-Basic network familiarity

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

-2 years of experience with advanced forms of data replication between databases

-OCP or higher Oracle certification preferred

-Familiarity with basic Linux architecture and administration

-Experience managing databases running on Linux

-Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills

-Exposure to and familiarity with data center design including systems, storage and networking

-A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority

-Design, development, tuning and creation of database environments
