Chemical, Biological, Nuclear, Radiological and Forensics SME

This is a contingent position.

PAE is currently seeking SMEs in the areas of Chemical, Biological, Nuclear, Radiological (CBRN) and Forensics (human DNA and Fingerprints) based in Charlottesville, VA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as subject matter expert, possessing in-depth knowledge of expert area (e.g., chemistry, microbiology, virology, molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, microbial and human DNA forensics, Fingerprints, etc.)

  • Provide technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.

  • Responsible for advising on tasks related to expert areas

  • Perform literature searches on state-of-the-art technology

  • Make recommendations to the customer and staff on changes to existing policies and procedures

  • Recommend agendas for working group meetings and conferences

  • Create documentation (e.g., briefings, read-ahead packages, minutes) to be used by the customer attendees at Intelligence Community (IC)-level working groups

  • Apply knowledge in areas of expertise to support the customer operationally

  • Expertise in emerging technologies for biological threat agent analysis

  • Design, Lead, and oversee research and development and method development efforts

  • Develop experimental designs and test plans

  • Oversee the execution of test plans

  • Train on areas of expertise including sample collection/analysis/threat-agent production

  • Identify and research new and emerging technologies for technical area of expertise, and provide recommendations on platforms or instrumentation regarding their suitability for specific needs

  • Expertise in current and emerging bio analytical tools and techniques

  • Analyze and interpret data

  • Oversee associate, staff, and senior level personnel and assign their daily/weekly taskings

  • Must possess, at a minimum, intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and Outlook

  • Participate in Technical Exchange Meetings with customers and internal corporate leaders

Required Qualifications: (SME, Level 1)

  • Master's degree OR 10 years of directly relatable experience in the discipline

  • 5 years of experience working in the Intelligence Community (IC) environment

  • Extensive experience working in and/or leading operations, research and development, and/or method development in area of expertise

  • Currently have an active DoD Secret security clearance

  • U.S. citizenship

Desired Qualifications:

  • Currently have an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance with CI Poly
