Washington State DSHS Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential Counselor in Chehalis, Washington
You can make a real difference in the lives of at-risk youth when you join our dedicated team at Green Hill School to provide comprehensive case management, transition planning, mental health counseling and treatment referral services to youth preparing to return to their homes and communities.
As a key member of our team, you will provide supervision and treatment to youth committed to Rehabilitation Administration care by the juvenile courts and who have a complex range of disorders and service needs. You will interview and administer/interpret screening tools and assessments, assess behavior, prioritize treatment targets, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions. Residential Counselors facilitate various groups and activities and prepare youth and their families for transition back to the community. You will also perform routine security duties, supervise and/or serve meals to resident groups, monitor movement of residents within the facility and in the community, group and document all legal treatment files, and supervise and assign chores within a living unit to meet health and hygiene standards. You will be trained in and required to use approved verbal de-escalation techniques and physical control, restraint, and take-down methods on aggressive youth, when needed.
Here's what we're looking for: We are seeking professionals who have a Bachelor's degree AND one year of professional experience working with at-risk or justice system involved youth a case manager, counselor, probation officer, parole officer, or experience working in a social service capacity planning directing, supervising, or facilitating interventions with at-risk juvenile justice system youth or related field. OR One year of experience as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor Assistant. OR A Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Social Sciences.
Interested* Applicants* An education degree must be from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a foreign equivalent. A degree in Social Work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
