Harris Associates L.P. Manager, SDM in Chicago, Illinois

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage the Security Data Management (SDM) team to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all day to day activities, including, but not limited to security reference data maintenance, price validation, corporate action and proxy voting management, and other recurring tasks.

  • Serve as the security reference data owner and develop in-depth knowledge of the firm’s various security data flows and requirements of life cycle events.

  • Develop/maintain appropriate documentation for all new and existing processes and systems, as well as proactively pursue process improvement initiatives.

  • Continually assess resource requirements to maintain appropriate coverage.

  • Manage our security and price data management systems such as Eagle Security Reference Manager and Pricing Center.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert; assist in the creation and delivery of training materials/programs for the department, as well as those outside of the department who will utilize such systems.

  • Serve as the firm’s market data administrator, developing strong relationships with vendors and remaining current on available updates, enhancements, etc.

  • Lead, or act as a key member of, project teams comprised of representatives from various operational areas and participate in assessing and testing new systems and system upgrades/enhancements.

  • Address all inquiries and requests related to security data in a timely manner.



  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff members and efficiently delegate tasks in order to meet the team’s objectives.

  • Business process skills and strong knowledge of the data lifecycle in an asset management firm, or similar.

  • In-depth knowledge of security reference data flows and security life cycle event such as pricing, corporate actions, and proxy voting for equity and fixed income securities.

  • Proven project management skills and the ability to be proactive, work independently and perform a wide variety of complex and confidential tasks with speed and accuracy with a professional and positive attitude.

  • Hands-on and results oriented; demonstrate a willingness to “roll-up his/her sleeves” to get the job done.

  • Willingness and ability to gain an in-depth knowledge our systems.

  • Self-starter with the ability to assess, explain and solve complex problems.


  • In-depth knowledge of Eagle Security Reference Manager, Pricing Center, Advent Axys, and Charles River.

  • Knowledge of mutual fundvaluation practices.

  • Knowledge of various data sources such Bloomberg, IDC, and market Indices.
