Overall, the Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support our growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs. This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Specific responsibilities will include the following
Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
Configure firewall rules, IPS, routing, and VPNs. Test and monitor connectivity and network performance in Azure and external connections (both physical and VPN). Troubleshoot network issues.
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the companys security team
Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
To be considered for this challenging role applicants must have a majority of the following skills, knowledge and abilities:
Bachelor degree with 5+ years Network Engineer experience required
Understanding of network security, including IPS.
Knowledge of Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls, preferably in virtual environments.
Understanding of WAN routing and connectivity, including MPLS and VPN.
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
Excellent written and verbal communication
Flexible, team player, get-it-done personality
Ability to organize and plan work independently
Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
Experience working with Azure Cloud based services a plus
Since this position will involve a Federal Government department, the selected candidate must be will willing and able to successfully undergo a MBI (Moderate Background Investigation).
