Position Overview:


QuadMed is currently seeking a full time Occupational Health Medical Assistant to work within our Occupational Health Services department at Whirlpool in Clyde, OH.

QuadMed provides workplace solutions on a national level to employers of all sizes. Our health and wellness centers provide occupational health focused medical, laboratory, rehabilitation services along with coordinated care through relationships with local hospitals, providers, and specialists.

As a Medical Assistant, this individual will be a highly motivated, quality-conscious healthcare professional with the ability to work in an environment where one-on-one time with patients and positive outcomes are the ultimate measurement of success. The successful candidate will focus on the intake of workers compensation injuries and the completion of accurate medical surveillance testing procedures per OSHA and state regulations, as well as perform all other medical assistant functions.


  • Measure and record vital signs (weight, height, bloodpressure, etc.)

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation into theOccupational Health EMR for all patient care, i.e. patient interview andhistory related to visit, vital signs, treatments, test results

  • Prepares patients for examinations and performs medicalsurveillance testing (PFT, Audiogram, respirator fit testing) according tocertification requirements and OSHA standards.

  • Performs lab tests including preparing specimen,testing, and recording results in support of health center laboratorystaff. Ensures CLIA/OSHA compliancestandards are met.

  • Prepares and administers medications and immunizationsper provider order

  • Changes dressings, applies bandages, removes suturesand other first aid procedures

  • Uses CPR skills when necessary

  • Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilizesinstruments

  • Organizes and maintains anelectronic medical record system for patient charts, including enteringbasic demographic information, scanning documentation in to the system,and entering codes for billing purposes.

  • Answers telephone and eitherresponds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or note forresponse by medical personnel.

  • Schedules appointments and entersappointment date and time into computerized scheduler.

  • Assistpatients in the scheduling of diagnostic tests, outpatient services andhospital admissions. Provide patient with information regarding preparations for theservice and necessary registration.

  • Conducts reminder and follow upcalls to patients as appropriate.

  • Greets and directs patients.

  • Registers patients by verifyingthat patient's record is up to date and accurate.

  • Makes appropriate changes incomputer system and on patient's chart.

  • Coordinates referrals for patientsthrough insurance and other physician offices or specialists.

  • Prepares all billings incomputerized system for processing by finance.

  • Looks for ways to improve andpromote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

  • Ability to identify and solveproblems in a timely manner; gathering and analyzing informationskillfully, developing alternate solutions.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;listening skills are essential while remaining open to other ideas andtrying new things.

  • Conducts self with professionalismand in a tactful manner, treating others with respect and consideration.

Required Qualifications:


  • Musthave high school diploma or equivalent

  • Graduateof an accredited Medical Assistant program


  • Two(2) to three (3) years of experience preferred

  • Phlebotomyand lab experience required

  • Experienceworking in an occupational health medical facility is preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • NIOSH (spirometry)and CAOHC (audiometry) certification preferred.

  • CurrentBLS certification required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellentinterpersonal and communication skills (oral/written) required
