Your tasks and responsibilities
The Director, Sales is responsible for achieving the objectives, goals, strategies, and measures (OGSMs) for assigned retailer(s) on an annual basis – results should be delivered through leading a team of direct reports which could include any combination of the following: •Direct selling resources •Customer marketing resources •Analytical resources Additionally, the Director, Sales is fully responsible for establishing and delivering the annual joint business plan for assigned brands/categories and for building strategic customer relationships with retailer counterparts; this engagement should extend up and down their organizational hierarchy as well as across departments and functions. This leader is responsible for developing a high performing team and must plan and execute all activities through the management of direct and indirect, cross-functional resources, in order to maximize sales volume and reach profit results.
The incumbent will:
•Lead the development of retailer objectives/goals/strategies/measures (OGSMs) ensuring alignment to Bayer Consumer Health strategies for assigned businesses; •Lead their team (direct and indirect resources) in establishing and achieving customer annual and long-term priorities. •Achieve Bayer volume and KPI objectives through successful sell-in and execution of the retail controllables across Bayer’s categories, with special focus on key battle brands and their associated categories, in: -Assortment -Promotion -Pricing -Shelving -New Products •Lead the team in providing monthly forecast including risk and opportunity assessment; •Guide team in analytical initiatives to ensure fact-based support to sell-in of Bayer initiatives and to drive identification of new opportunities; •Leads and actively participates in Continuous Business Planning process for the assigned customer or channel team, including: •Conduct ongoing assessment of annual business plans for: –Course correction to current year plan achievement; –Implications to next year’s plan development; •Evaluate retail controllable best practices to identify opportunities; •Develop account-specific promotion plan; •Integrate new products into customer and/or channel plans; •Integrate digital program into customer and/or channel plans, as appropriate; •Monitor/track competitive activity and identifies needs/implications; •Act as Field Sales liaison to HQ Sales Support for ongoing communication of: –Retailer's department, category, Bayer brand, customer and/or channel issues; –Bayer business-building opportunities; •Lead and participate in key strategic meetings with customer (such as top-to-tops) as the primary interface with customer executives. Participate in the recruitment, development, and career pathing for the customer or channel team. •Penetrates all levels VP/Director/Category Manager/Logistics/IT/Corporate/Divisional/Merchandising/ Retail/Warehouse/Finance/Administrative/Pharmacy/Buyer/Assistants) within the customer organization to cultivate strategic relationships and to deliver the annual business plan; •Maximize customer headquarter and retail performance execution by effectively using available resources; •Effectively manage trade budget and spending to deliver profitable ROI with no over-spends; •Lead shopper marketing strategy; prioritize programming and resource allocations to support the customer marketing team.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position:
•Knowledge ordinarily acquired from a B.S./B.A. degree (MBA desired) with minimum of 12 years of experience in sales and/or marketing roles working in CPG/OTC companies, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. This should include 5 –7 years’ experience building strategic business plans that utilize specific resources (i.e., people, time and money) in the accomplishment of Corporate sales volume and profit goals; •Must have a Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to travel as necessary or required; •Direct HQ selling experience is required, preferably with a key customer; •Sales strategy and/or sales operations and/or category management experience is required; •Field sales management and/or direct broker management experience preferred; •The incumbent should possess sound financial management skills in order to assess trade merchandising programs and streamline operational processes; •They should exemplify strong people development skills in coaching and motivating direct reports and peers; •Even though the incumbent is focused on their specific customer’s business, they must also understand the impact of their decisions to the total Division’s business; •They effectively utilize resources to deliver results; are able to leverage cross-functional support in the areas of customer marketing, customer and shopper solutions, category and shopper solutions, self-care solutions, sales strategy and sales operations, customer service, logistics, category development, and retail execution; •These experiences must have produced personal competencies in communication skills; able to create and deliver clear and concise presentations; •The incumbent must exemplify strong critical thinking abilities through multi-task problem solving (i.e., process management), practical judgment and financial analysis; able to effectively prioritize resources in order to deliver against annual plans; •They are results driven while able to work well within a team environment; can build strong relationships and show organizational agility; •They are customer focused and create win/win situations through their advanced negotiation skills; •Strong computer skills including MS office and analyzing consumption data to build strategy.
