Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Troubleshoot all aspects of SCOM effectively and understand the product configuration, flow and logging in detail

The general technical skillset that will help you succeed:

  • Knowledge of System Center Operations Manager

  • SQL Database concepts and familiarity with TSQL queries like Select Update statements and Relational database Management system concepts.

  • Windows Server Operating System knowledge “Core terminologies and concepts very common among network administrators and MCSE”

  • Strong working knowledge of VBScript, SNMP, batch scripting, PowerShell and Transact-SQL development.

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows server Operating System, clustering, SQL, VMI and IIS.

  • Strong working knowledge SCOM 2012 & 2012 R2. Having experience in solution Accelerators, SCOM Connectors and the SCOM Connector Framework, and model based architecture in SCOM 2007 will be Add-on value..

  • Should have basic Widows PowerShell concepts.

  • Working knowledge in WMI and WQL queries

  • Active Directory and networking concepts such as TCP/IP and other networking and communication protocols and services: DNS, SNMP, SMTP, HTTP

Preferred SCOM Experience

  • Knowledge of design, implementation, maintenance, and operation of all aspects of SCOM’s

  • Root & Peer Management servers.

  • Audit collection Service.

  • SCOM Agent deployment.

  • SCOM Config Generation.

  • Gateway and Agent cert based communications.

  • Operations Manager DB and Operations Manager DW data retention and grooming.

  • SCOM Reports.

  • Microsoft Management packs, specially Windows operating System, Exchange 2010 and 2013, SQL All versions and Share Point and SCCM MPs.

  • General knowledge in Scom Power shell, XML, Sysinternal Tools, SCOM ACS, Management pack review in XML, Unix / Linux Basic Operations around file system, and basic admin level.

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • 3+ years of broad-based IT experience with technical knowledge of network, environmental, hardware, storage, operating systems and applications.

  • 3+ years of customer-service experience (service-industry or non-technical field acceptable) preferred.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight.

  • Strong working knowledge of Internet networking technologies and principals including TCP/IP and DNS.

  • Proven ability to absorb, master and leverage emerging technologies.

  • Broad working knowledge of Microsoft platforms and technologies including IIS, SQL Server and Exchange.

  • Strong working knowledge of VBScript, SNMP, batch scripting, PowerShell and Transact-SQL development.

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows server Operating System, clustering, SQL, VMI and IIS.

  • Proven ability to work in both a team environment and independently.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.

  • Strong time and attention management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Technical diagramming (Visio) and documentation capabilities.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Industry-related certifications (MCITP, RHCE, VCP, etc.) a plus.

  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification preferred a plus.

  • Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with enterprise monitoring technologies, and principles and systems such as SNMP, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager.
