*The selected candidate must have a current INTERIM SECRET level security clearance.
The selected candidate must have an educational background in Computer Science or Electronics Technology, or be a graduate of U.S. Navy Electronics or AT, CTM, ET, IT, STG, OTM, Tactical Communicator "C" schools.
The selected candidate must have course work or at least Ten (10) years of practical hands-on experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of some or all of the following: digital computers and computer networks, peripheral/interface equipment, communications systems, navigation systems, sonar systems, fiber optic cabling. Understanding of Electronics Theory, Information Systems Technology, and Fiber Optic Transmission Systems is required.
The selected candidate will be assigned to perform maintenance and repair work on Submarine Fiber Optic Cable (SFOC) Line Termination Equipment (SLTE) and all associated systems in several locations. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment, and must be able to coordinate activities such as maintenance actions, systems tests, repairs, and equipment installations with government and private sector agencies. This position requires 25% - 35% travel, and the selected candidate will be added to an on-call rotation. Additional compensation will apply to all on-call status and to most of the required travel.
Desired hands-on experience in some or all:
-Integrated Undersea Surveillance Systems (IUSS) equipment maintenance and repair.
-Current protection equipment and high voltage power supplies.
-Fiber Optic test equipment.
-Backup Power Generators.
-U.S. Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3-M) system and qualified in 3-M.
-Knowledge of underwater cable fault isolation practices and procedures a plus.
-Knowledge of classified material regulations, handling procedures, physical security measures, and emergency destruction procedures.
-Ability to operate, administrate and test LANs, WANs, UNIX, LINUX, and Solaris operating systems.
-Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
-Knowledge of Electronic Key Management System (EKMS)/Cryptographic Material, practices and administration in support of local element procedures.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
Basic Qualifications 9 Years relevant experience with Bachelors; 7 Years relevant experience with Masters; An additional 4 years of specific job experience with a HS diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this job. This experience is in addition to the relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.
