This announcement establishes a standing register of eligible applicants to be considered for permanent full-time appointments. The first list of eligible applicants will be pulled for referral on 11:59 PM (EST) August 19, 2016 and then again every Friday at 11:59 PM (EST) until the closing date of Saturday, December 31, 2016. VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL is recruiting a full-time Orthopedic Surgeon to provide a full range of Orthopedic services to our Veterans. The physician will perform general orthopedic clinic and surgical duties to include arthroscopy and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. The incumbent will be under the Chief of Surgical Service. The major duties include but are not limited to:
- Participate in and/or manage all aspects of a general orthopedic surgery program
- Perform administrative duties related to patient care management (entering progress notes, discharge summaries, consults, etc.)
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including Nursing, Anesthesiology, Podiatry, Residents and medical support staff to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of patient care services.
Work Schedule: 8:00a - 4:30p (No holidays, evening, weekend or on-call duties)

English Language Proficiency. Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from a school approved by the Secretary of Veteran Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association.
Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience: Shoulder arthroscopy and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair experience.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements: Light lifting and carrying (less than 15 lbs), walking and/or standing 4-8 hours per day, use of fingers, hearing aid permitted, working closely with others, working alone, emotional and mental stability.
