UIL Holdings employs more than 1,900 people in the New England region. The Connecticut Natural Gas Company is looking for an exceptional individual for the East Hartford Location.
The Facilities Technician will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all building equipment with a focus on HVAC-R systems analysis and repair activities, as required as well as performance of preventative and unscheduled maintenance; in accordance with all State of Connecticut building codes. The candidate will set challenging goals, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and persistence about accomplishing them and hold themselves and the team accountable for achieving results. Under the Facilities Supervisor’s guidance, direct and coordinate facility related activities to ensure a safe and secure work environment. Contribute to the efficient operation of the property while optimizing engineering/mechanical efforts to meet or exceed expectations. The Facilities Technician position is required to be visibly and actively involved in overall facility operations, and to lead by example. Additional duties are to support the Facility Supervisor by overseeing vendors and contractors to ensure building systems are properly maintained and all work is performed in accordance with building rules and regulations and that safety plans are submitted when applicable. Work in partnership with Facilities and support teams (i.e. Accounting, Customer Service, Administration, Engineering, Construction and HR) and encourage all vendors and staff to do the same.
This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Two year trade school certificate emphasizing in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety and building control systems preferred. Must have a minimum of five years’ post licensure, relevant experience in modern office buildings. Strong “hands on” troubleshooting skills in HVAC-R and knowledge of electrical, carpentry and plumbing. Must have a State of Connecticut, Unlimited Heating, Piping and Cooling License (S2). Universal level refrigerant recovery license, OSHA 30, and ACM awareness certifications are desirable.
