UIL Holdings employs more than 1,900 people in the New England region. The Connecticut Natural Gas Company is looking for an exceptional individual for the East Hartford Location.
Supervises employees in the construction, operation and maintenance of gas distribution facilities. Oversees, plans, and schedules corrosion control inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Ensures that corrosion control inspections, testing and installations are completed in accordance with construction standards, approved policies, procedures, safety rules and budgets. May interact with customers (internal & external) to solve problems/concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
Supervises both Company employees and subcontractor crews, in the construction, operation and maintenance of gas distribution systems.
Plans, schedules and directs corrosion control activities preventive and corrective maintenance, and inspections.
Ensures that all corrosion control, construction and maintenance work is completed in accordance with construction standards, following approved policies, procedures and safety rules.
Ensures that bi-monthly rectifier inspections, annual and 10 year cathodic protection surveys are completed according to approved policies, and procedures.
Interacts with customers (internal & external) to solve problems/concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
Prepares corrosion control work orders, time sheets, inspection reports and other paperwork necessary for corrosion, construction and maintenance activities.
This position requires an Associate’s Degree and 10 years of underground Construction and Maintenance experience or a High School Diploma and 13 years of Construction & Maintenance experience. NACE basic corrosion certification is preferred. Supervisory experience of a union and non-union workforce is preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Knowledge of underground gas construction, properties of natural gas, bargaining unit labor agreements, gas leak detection methods and procedures, CBYD regulations, State and federal pipeline safety regulations, Hazmat, and OSHA are preferred. Ability to read construction maps and drawings, mechanical ability, oral and written communication skills, Organization and planning skills are required. Must have a valid driver’s license. May require various DOT Operator Qualifications. Must be available for response during after hours to work storms, emergencies, on call and critical assignments.
