Your tasks and responsibilities
The Director, Category and Shopper Solutions leads category management strategy development and delivers solutions based on evolving retailer needs while supporting sales strategic imperatives at an assigned retailer(s) or channel of trade. Also, the incumbent coordinates and manages the linkage between Category & Shopper Solutions, the retailer and Bayer Consumer Health category strategies to ensure insights are appropriately translated to execution within the category environment to support achievement of Bayer business objectives. Additionally, the Director, Category and Shopper Solutions owns the allocation of category management resources and delivering on short and long term strategic imperatives relative to category and shopper solutions; the incumbent may also be directly responsible for owning and analyzing a category or set of categories for the retailer. The incumbent must also engage with their retailer(s), across a variety of leadership levels, as the Bayer Category Management expert bringing shopper insights and the latest in self-care thinking (ie category adjacencies, clustering, etc
The incumbent will:
•Lead development of Category Management strategy and approach within assigned retailer base; •Be accountable for the Category Advisor team, across all Bayer OTC categories, including formal retailer advisor roles; •Be responsible for the capacity planning of the total solutions team resources to enable achievement of Bayer business objectives at our customers; •Responsible for resourcing, people development and succession planning of their assigned solutions team; •Drive ongoing identification of customer and/or channel shopper insight issues and opportunities with team; coordinates with HQ Sales Support; •Identify Bayer brand business and category opportunities based upon retailer and shopper insights; •Manage team to support Bayer’s internal brand focus areas including: Development of category reviews, planogram strategies, and supporting Bayer “test and learn” category and department concepts with customers; •Plan, develop, customize, and execute platform presentations (category and regimen) with Bayer customer; •Adapt, sell, and execute health and wellness and regimen programs with customers; •Lead the team to provide retailer's department, category, Bayer brand, and Bayer initiatives with analytical support including: Leading insight development utilizing customer POS data, syndicated data and industry information for new opportunities and in support of existing initiatives/actions; •Convert analytical facts into actionable insights and solutions; •Conduct ongoing retail controllable scorecarding analysis and evaluation/recommendations versus best practices; •Conduct ongoing category reviews and analyses; •Monitor and track competitive activity, new item performance, shopper engagement activity; •Utilize customer data, information, and resources for ongoing analyses; •Provide ongoing ad hoc analytical support; •Lead Category strategy dialog with assigned retailer(s) and cultivates relationships with retailer(s) senior management, influencing overall strategy.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position: •Knowledge ordinarily acquired from a B.S./B.A. degree (MBA desired) with minimum of 12 years of experience in sales and/or marketing roles working in CPG/OTC companies, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience; •Must have a Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to travel as necessary or required; •Direct retailer experience is required; Headquarter based sales experience is also preferred; •Demonstrated competency in category management with a minimum of 5-8 years of functional experience including hands-on analytical and data manipulation and retailer category captainships; •Must be able to integrate corporate objectives into account level business building solutions and demonstrate a strong customer focused orientation with clear understanding of customer and marketplace needs and implications; •Incumbent should also bring a strong understanding of data based shopper insights data (driven through syndicated and sales data, primary research) and emerging industry trends to expand organizational capabilities; •Must be able to leverage problem solving skills to overcome barriers. •Skilled strategic thinker, capable of developing strategic plans that balance company and customer objectives while driving category results. Proven track record of driving results through others; •Ability to ensure effective resource (people, time and money) allocations; •Strong leader with a proven track record of in-market results; •Must be able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment, build and motivate team and develop others (direct and indirect reports); •Skilled at effectively communicating cross functionally within the organization and able to influence others to achieve common goals.
