Citi Retail Services Technology is looking for Software Engineers with broad experience and an interest to develop products & platforms. In this role, you will help us understand where we need to be today, tomorrow, next year, and three years from now. As a Software Engineer, you will be part of a distributed team and work independently as well as in tight collaboration and regular communication with other team members and upstream developers. We'll need you to be interested in cutting-edge software development and open source. We'll need you to be a great communicator and influencer, and, especially, a collaborator. You will regularly collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technology guidance, requiring a clear understanding of the desired outcomes and a solid grasp of the overall technology roadmap.

Primary job responsibilities

Help define and implement Citi platform strategy utilizing Red Hat products, infrastructure and deployment. Develops and maintains products and platforms by evaluating client needs; analyzing requirements; developing software systems. Enhances staff accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members. Identifies requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual clients and with other persons in a position to understand service requirements.


  • Design and Architectural experience with Java and JEE solutions

  • Particularly JTA and JPA

  • Experience with Java Middleware Servlets/Containers (JBoss EAP, Tomcat, Websphere)

  • Experience with integration to a back-end web services (including RESTful APIs, SOAP, etc.)

  • Strong Spring Framework familiarity

  • Familiarity with Red Hat JBoss BPM/BRMS

  • Apache Camel Understanding

  • Blueprint and Spring implementation

  • Jenkins Job Configuration Experience

  • Experience with Pipeline plugin (Pipeline as Code)

  • Knowledge of enterprise security, scalability, and architecture

  • SSO and Siteminder a plus

  • Scrum/Agile experience

  • Continuous Integration and Delivery

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • 5+ years of significant software development experience

  • Experience in several programming languages, e.g. C, Java, Ruby, or Python; Python or Go experience is a particular advantage

  • Interest in open source software development

  • Eye for good architecture and the ability to develop new architectures

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)

  • Focus on test-driven development, with a good knowledge of unit testing frameworks and methodologies
