Kratos Technology & Training Solutions System Integration Director in Fair Lawn, New Jersey

Job Description:

The East Side Access (ESA) Systems Integration Director is a key management position responsible for the design, integration and commissioning of the ESA project as well as management of the Integration Team. The Director will oversee the preparation of project submittals and will work closely with the Project Management and Engineering Teams to insure design integrity and functionality. The position is accountable to handle re-designs if necessary to meet the customers requirements and supports all aspects of the ESA project as needed, including a heavy hands-on role in design, development, deployment and testing of the various systems associated with the project.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for engineering, design, configuration, procurement, testing and training aspects of the ESA project
  • Commission complex communication systems, including backbone communications, local network, voice, two-way radio, electronic security, train control and SCADA
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot complex problems and manage the needs of customers
  • Provide first line technical support of mission critical business processes for customers
  • Create and maintain customer system software libraries, procedure manuals and supporting documentation
  • Aid in preparation, updating and storage of design and construction drawings
  • Maintain engineering work schedules and coordination work with Project Managers
  • Work closely with the CAD Department to prepare and update system drawings
  • Maintain excellent communications with Project Managers and engineering staff
  • Support Project Managers and Engineers with staging, installation and testing
  • Attend and lead project related meetings and site visits as needed with other client and other contractors
  • Responsible for the project P&L;
  • Oversee maintenance of the project schedule
  • Management of ESA personnel and subcontractors
  • Manage performance of direct line manager reports and address employee relations issues promptly and within the guidelines of KPSS Human Resources
  • Plan, schedule, organize, assign, direct and control all activities, either directly or through assigned personnel, to successfully engineer, install and commission the goals of the ESA project
  • Set and monitor goals for the overall team and tracks the financial performance of both the program and each project within the program, monitoring key metrics such as costs versus estimate, schedule versus plan, resource allocation and resource productivity, billing and collections, cash flow and profitability
  • Contract and requirement management to ensure the companys legal obligations are met.
  • Conduct periodic review analyses of revenue and expenses and make recommendations for adjustments
  • Monitor the ESA Teams activity in relation to the budget throughout the year
  • Provide advice to the executive team on long range plans, forecasts and strategies pertaining to the ESA Project
  • Other duties as required by manager

Experience and Skills:

  • Must be in compliance with the Kratos Code of Ethics
  • Ability to adhere to Kratos policies and HR processes and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Develop and demonstrate subject matter expertise on all supported systems
  • Ability to organize, direct and develop personnel, and to plan and coordinate timely completion of responsibilities

  • Must be proficient in various Project planning tools

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of ten years relevant leadership experience in operations management and/or process management particularly within the rail transit industry
  • Knowledge of integrated system design
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team
  • Database administration and design experience preferred
  • Network experience preferred (specifically in network design and network security)
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure preferred (specifically in Active Directory and Domain deployment)

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee will likely be placed in an office although routine visits to job sites for meetings, surveys and tests are expected. The office work environment characteristics are representative of those of an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer via standard input devices such as using a keyboard and reading information on a monitor.

The System Integration Directors workday is split between the office and field depending on project activities. When visiting a site, an Integrator must be prepared for conditions that may be unpleasant or even dangerous. The Integrator may find they are examining locations that are in poor condition in order to gather information on the project. He/she may also be exposed to general construction dangers from equipment or falling objects. Project environments can vary from pre-construction job sites to clean, air conditioned datacenters. Due to these requirements the integrator must comply with all conditions pertaining to KPSS safety programs.
