CGI Federal is looking to hire a Solutions Architect to support our Internal and External customers' requirements.
The Solution Architects primary responsibility is to work with the Chief Solution Architect, delivery teams and Business Development teams to develop solutions and support complex business development initiatives. The solutions will draw upon elements of US Federal Government mission areas, federal Healthcare, regulatory policy, Federal IT policy, Information Security and Administrative Management, marrying these to technology areas in Cloud Computing, Big Data, Cybersecurity, DevOps & IT operations, LAN/WAN & internetworking, COTS System Integration and custom application development / modernization. Given the breadth of clients to be supported, this architect must combine strong business acumen with contemporary technical knowledge and superior written and verbal communications skills.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Hands on solution development and validation. General knowledge to work across contemporary enterprise IT and web-scale IT areas including infrastructure, applications, data management and cybersecurity, with a personal depth area in one or more of the categories. Works closely with other architects or delivery teams to build component solutions or major solutions of various sizes and complexities. Ability to translate solutions into winning proposals, including the overall value proposition, technical implementation approach and operations and maintenance model and solution-level costing. Solid understanding of Federal Shared Services principles. Ability to understand and work within CGI proprietary architecture development framework.
Leading and/or supporting creation of winning technology solutions at attractive price points. Understanding the tradeoffs between features, risks and costs
Determining infrastructure, application, data and business solution costing and options for price reduction according to company and client financial constraints
Developing messaging for proposal responses that represent compelling value propositions to customers and differentiate CGI from competitors. Understanding and communicating key differentiators in an architectural solution for customer and compared to anticipated competitor solutions, and translating how technical architecture components create an overall business solution and value to the customer
Assisting the development and evolution of future state of IT offerings/capabilities to meet changing market demands, and the skills and temperament to consistently infuse innovative tools and approaches into offerings
Facilitating the standardization and reuse of managed service (Cloud) offerings via process reengineering and standardization of best practices
Calculating Total Cost of Ownership of technology components and complete platforms
Understanding interrelationships and impacts of systems and applications upon the enterprise wide technical environment
Ensuring solutions are of high quality, are high performance and are scalable
Maintaining a current knowledge of the technology industry and Federal IT marketplace and determining the impact of emerging policy, infrastructure and/or applications software on new and existing solutions.
- Maintaining a general working knowledge of networking/internetworking and IT security
Developing visual, standards-based EA or solution models that support a business leader's understanding and governance of technology solutions, technology principles and technical roadmaps
Providing expertise in infrastructure, data and applications software evaluation, selection and implementation
Accountable for developing and managing key internal/external relationships across sphere of influence, including collaborations where no organizational relationship existed previously.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Sales engineering / technology solutions design and costing/pricing.
Minimum 8 years of post-collegiate work experience in the IT field, or military equivalent.
6 years Application development, applications services management and/or infrastructure and operations management.
- Ability to document solutions, designs, ideas and concepts into diagrams or other graphic depictions that effectively communicate solution concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Minimum 6 years experience working with multi-site delivery of application and infrastructure services (e.g., Cloud).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, must be proficient developing and delivering presentations on solution and business case/value to Federal IT executives and managers.
Aggressive, self-directed style. Must be able to cultivate relationships and discover/validate internal Intellectual Property across a large (70k employee) IT company.
Ability to develop shared service offerings in an IT service provider (Cloud) environment.
Experience as primary author on complex deliverables, whitepapers and/or academic articles a plus. Experience writing proposals strongly desired.
Knowledge of Federal Government contracting.
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree Required.
General grasp of contemporary commercial architecture frameworks - Zachman, TOGAF, etc.
Advanced certifications a plus CEA, OCEB, CISSP, PMP, ITIL, etc.
Master Degree in Technical or Business discipline a plus.
Experience working in complex cabinet-level agency a plus.
Experience managing outsourcing/managed services transitions.
Participation in DC area IT associations and working groups such as ACT-IAC, AFCEA, GITEC or AFFIRM a plus.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, using initiative to anticipate needs in areas of responsibility
Strong business acumen and possession of a positive attitude, Communication savvy and effectiveness (complex collaboration, diplomacy, tact)
Ability to multi-task, stay resourceful and resilient when presented with change, view challenges with fresh eyes and willingness to rethink past assumptions
- Understanding of Federal Budget Cycle and Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) processes
Ability to create diagrams and models that align to US Federal standards, DoDAF, FSAM, FEAF, TEAF, etc.
