We are looking for someone with at least 10 years post qualification experience (software industry and data protection experience is essential), who can fulfil the following role:
The successful candidate will lead the UK & Ireland legal team and be responsible for the provision of legal support to the UKI market unit. This will include all relevant legal practice areas including in particular software licensing, cloud services, value added services and dispute resolution. The successful candidate will:
Lead and support the UKI legal team on a day to day basis, allocating work, handling escalations, and approving relevant terms.
Take responsibility for delivery of legal support across all relevant sales areas, as well as supporting ancilliary legal support for procurement, facilities, post-merger acquisitions, IP and data privacy issues.
Act as primary negotiator for some of the most complex transactions with SAP’s customers and partners and
Inspire, coach and motivate a busy team, promote a culture of inclusive collaboration, work closely with local and regional commercial and lawyers supporting other MU’s and business areas.
Be the trusted legal advisor for SAP UKI’s management sales team, in particular working closely with the local CFO, COO and MD.
Contribute to the overall success of the business unit and be a recognised business partner through understanding business objectives and giving appropriate legal advice.
Build strong relationships and partner with sales and sales directors to drive closure of transactions according to monthly and quarterly driven deadlines.
Understand SAP’s compliance policies, business parameters, rev rec principles and DoA requirements to ensure all licence, cloud and services revenues can be recognised appropriately.
Participate in SAP Global Legal projects as a project sponsor.
Understand and work according to the commercial pressures of a sales business in a high pressure and fast-paced environment.
Focus on how facilitate business, rather than being an obstacle to business.
Understand SAP’s pricing and licensing models, work with commercial director and sales management on deciding how to structure deals, and collate advice from different areas of the business in order to draft and negotiate appropriate contracts.
Ensure an appropriate level of internal compliance is in place in relation to transactions.
This role report to Deputy General Counsel, EMEA and enjoys excellent exposure within the business.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Degree in law and qualifications to practice in the jurisdiction, excellent working knowledge of contract law, dispute resolution and data protection. Knowledge of software rev rec principles is an advantage.
Articulate, accountable, able to make quick decisions, thrives in a dynamic environment and copes well with pressure.
Works independently and creatively, collaborates well with different parts of the organisation, responds quickly and effectively to SAP’s sales force
LOCATION – primarily at SAP UK headquarters with travel to UK customer meetings as required.
