Positions are located at Fort Drum NY, Fort Irwin, CA, Fort Leavenworth KS, Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA, and Fort Jackson, SC

Duties
  • Provides substantive systems support, computer maintenance and security/information assurance compliance to ensure network connectivity and access.
  • Maintains accountability of computer equipment and coordinates with the support contractor to field new computers.
  • Prepares documentation to request/terminate systems access and establishes new user accounts through the automated system.
  • Performs daily back up functions, monitors the event logs for errors, and applies update packages.
  • Assists users and finance systems personnel on computers, systems and server related issues such as ILAN access, applications, patches, email, peripherals, etc.
  • Briefs new users on security requirements, provides quarterly security briefings in accordance with regulatory guidance, monitors and enforces computer security and resolves non-compliance issues.
  • Performs Terminal Area Security Officer (TASO) duties for all Finance, Travel, and Disbursing systems.
  • Prepares and submits system generated reports.
  • Update Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with regulatory guidance and policies.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) in the federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as: assisting in computer hardware and software support to an organization, including troubleshooting and assisting in repair and maintenance of system applications and hardware..

Examples of Specialized Experience Include: assistance with hardware or software problems; assistance with access; assisting in gathering data for reports; and assisting in the development of technical information and instructions to customers and supervisors.) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. One full year of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. Background or Security Investigation: This is a non-critical sensitive position. The position requires secret access. Employment in this position requires a background investigation which may delay your starting date. If you are selected and cannot obtain a favorable security determination within a reasonable period of time due to disclosed or undisclosed background issues, the employment offer may be withdrawn.
