Job Overview

Reporting to the senior reliability engineer, you will perform long term and strategic reliability tasks to support maintenance activities, safely and effectively. You will act as the key point of contact with mine equipment maintenance, mining operations, vendors and supply chain management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Promote the safety culture and ensure that personal safety is not compromised during job execution

  • Perform mechanical inspections on mobile mining assets, compiling detailed reports as required

  • Request maintenance work based on condition monitoring analysis results

  • Monitor and manage oil analysis program for the Fort Hills mobile mining fleet

  • Communicate the appropriate priority or urgency to complete identified maintenance activity in a timely manner

  • Establish and maintain mechanical monitoring programs based on the equipment strategy and develop detailed monitoring standards for data acquisition

  • Support the development, maintenance and review of equipment strategies

  • Perform quality assurance inspections of new/rebuilt components, and also ensure maintenance tasks are completed as per technical specifications

  • Participate in failure analysis, root cause analysis, reliability analysis and incident investigations related to mechanical components for issues such as failures and repairs

  • Participate in implementing and creating reliability improvement initiatives in conjunction with the equipment asset cross functional teams

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • 10 or more years of experience in mobile mining equipment

  • Experience with inspection tools such as thermography and vibration analysis

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Certificate preferred; attach your Journeyman / Red Seal ticket with your application in order to be considered

  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project, Visio and PowerPoint)

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Solid organizational skills

  • Robust collaboration and independent working skills that consistently meet time deadlines

Working Conditions

  • Position will initially be based in Calgary, Alberta at the Suncor Energy Centre and will then transition to a camp-based position at the Fort Hills site

  • While in Calgary, the working schedule will be Monday to Friday, but will transition to a site-based shift schedule of seven days on/ seven days off
