Your tasks and responsibilities
The Manager, Category and Shopper Solutions adapts, sells, and executes Bayer consumer/shopper insights for customer application in support of achieving Bayer business objectives. They work closely with key retailers on assigned categories and focus on influencing category management strategies, shelf management opportunities and in-store plan-o-gram updates and changes. They own leading and educating retailers on shopper and category insights and implications and impacting the retail environment especially within Bayer’s key battle brands/categories. In order to deliver leading, holistic solutions, the Manager, Category and Shopper Solutions must collaborate directly with the internal Category and Solutions team, the Self Care Solutions group, sales strategy, market research and brand marketing, as needed. •Develops category reviews, conducts planogram development, and actively participates in and supports, when appropriate, “test and learn” concepts with customers •Provides retailer's category management department with analytical support specific to category initiatives and POG development. •Within the context of category management opportunities, actively participates in the business planning process. Plans, develops, customizes and presents platform presentations (Self Care, category and regimen) with retailers. •Adapts, sells, and executes Self Care and regimen programs with customers •Drives ongoing identification of customer and/or channel shopper insight issues and opportunities with team; coordinates with Category and Solutions team. •Identifies Bayer brand business opportunities based upon retailer and shopper insights •Mines customer POS data and loyalty card data and information for new opportunities and in support of existing initiatives/actions •Converts analytical facts into actionable insights and holistic, market-leading solutions •Conducts ongoing retail controllable scorecarding analysis and evaluation/recommendations versus best practices and current results •Conducts ongoing category reviews and analyses •Monitors and tracks competitive activity, new item performance, and overall category performance vs plan/budget •Utilizes customer data, information, and resources for ongoing analyses •Provides and conducts ongoing ad hoc analytical support to support category management
Who you are

More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following; • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience; MBA desirable with 8 years of progressive Category Management, Sales, Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing or Shopper Research experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, data-services industry or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. • Preferred 2-3 years of Field/HQ Category Mgmt or Field/HQ Customer Marketing or Sales Strategy experience as well as exposure to all trade classes. Direct selling experience, preferred. Strong working knowledge of the selling and category management process. • Preferred experience dealing with Field and HQ organizations. Strong ability to manage personnel through multi-task functions, and multiple projects. •Must have a Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to travel as necessary or required. • Ability to be objective, and have the ability to prioritize available resources, both direct and indirect reports, based on sound, strategic rationale. • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing/providing direction to external resources including syndicated data vendors, or consultants. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner to large groups. • Strong analytical skills with hands-on use of syndicated data, customer specific sales information, and primary market research. • Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, problem solve and translate into action-oriented recommendations and directions. • Strong customer-focused orientation and problem solving skills. Ability to think and sell conceptually. Ability to provide guidance to analyst(s) with respect to analytic design, data integration and interpretation. • Excellent computer skills including database management, and manipulating multiple data fields. Clear understanding of syndicated, panel and loyalty card data strongly preferred. • Customer focused with past Retailer exposure/experience. • Ability to prioritize opportunities based on required time invested. Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects. • Competency in: communication, decision-making, problem solving, analytical skills, teamwork, developing relationships and leadership.
