  • Provide specialized Counter-IED instruction specific to mission and mission essential task list (METL) requirements.

  • Provide specialized subject matter expertise and instruction on hand held detectors, threat assessment, ground sign awareness, CREW integration, IED and HME awareness and indicators.

  • Classroom and practical application instruction covering enemy TTPs of IED emplacements and variations of IEDs employed.

  • Knowledge of US CIED equipment used by Conventional and Special Operations forces (HHDs, CREW, VISDES, etc.).

  • Ensure students receive relevant information by providing lessons learned, and ensuring curriculum and training materials are specific to the training units' AOR.

  • Prepare instructional programs and material in accordance with training or course requirements.

  • Develops curriculum and continuously assess course materials and training aids for necessary improvements via research intelligence gathering and content revision.


  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems and independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

  • Provide focused C-IED training on TTPs and equipment to include; (HHDs, CREW, VISDES).

  • Instruct audience on approved TTPs for IED vulnerable point and area threat assessment and mitigation.

  • Teach modules related to CIED awareness: threat assessment, react to an IED, hand held detectors, ground sign awareness and techniques, tactical formations used to mitigate the threats an IED environment.

  • Provide immediate feedback to question sets utilizing knowledge gained from extensive field experience and relevant information obtained through open source and classified communication channels.

  • Research and disseminate current and developing IED trends, techniques, and procedures in preparation for teaching students.

  • Maintain classroom control, administer written assessments, conduct student critiques and evaluate student and instructor performance.

  • Conduct assessments of students/participants to evaluate their learning progress and the effectiveness of instruction.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's with 3 - 7 yrs. of experience, or a Master's and 1 to 5 yrs. of experience.

  • 8-12+ years of professional experience can be substituted for degree.

  • 5 yrs. experience in SOF community supporting EOD operations

  • Candidates must have experience working with the SOF community and possess and in-depth understanding of SOF operations: COIN, FID, VSO

  • In depth knowledge of US CIED equipment used by Conventional and Special Operations forces (HHDs, CREW, VISDES, etc.).

  • Ability to conduct research using tools such as SIPR, periodicals, journals, open source Internet, etc. to identify and interpret evolving threats and innovations in techniques, tactics and procedures.

  • Graduate of military service instructor course or civilian equivalent.

  • Combined military/civilian (3 years for Sr, 1 year for Jr) of formal platform instructor experience.

  • Experience training Host Nation forces through the use of an interpreter.

  • Recent military or civilian authorized to accompany military forces deployment.

  • Must meet minimum requirements to deploy globally.

  • Travel requirements: >50-75% CONUS/OCONUS.

  • Secret security clearance required.
