Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is a general acute care hospital with the following services: * A 24-hour emergency department * Advanced-technology operating rooms * CT, MRI and nuclear medicine * Cardiac catheterization capabilities * Obstetrics and neonatal special care * An on-campus medical office building Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center opened June 7, 2010 and is a part of HCA Virginia, which is the commonwealth's most comprehensive healthcare network. SRMC is a $175 million hospital with 133-beds and all rooms are private and provide a wide range of in- and outpatient services, including 24-hour emergency care, obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, cardiac catheterization and psychiatric care. Located on a 75-acre campus south of Fredericksburg on Interstate 95, the hospital recently won state approval to build a cancer treatment center, which will be built next to the Pogonia Medical Arts Building, an 80,000-square-foot medical office building attached to the hospital. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*

1 Obtain quality ultrasound images of patients

2 Manage all ultrasound equipment and recognize significant diagnostic information

3 Demonstrates ability to perform all necessary computer operations

4 Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner and always identifies patients utilizing the proper protocol.

5 Prepare ultrasound machine and perform quality control tests

6 Assist radiology nurse or radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies and all types care to patient

7 Reviews each exam for technical accuracy and identifies anatomical orientation on all images

8 Demonstrates willingness to assist in additional duties

9 Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.

10 Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients.

11 Completes and maintains educational requirements.


REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 year as a staff sonographer

PREFERRED: Multiple years as a staff sonographer


REQUIRED: Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiology Technology, competently trained in ultrasound or graduate of an AMA approved School of Ultrasound Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT and or ARDMS for licensure


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (Required or Preferred)

American Registry of Radiologic Technology or

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (preferred) or completion of registry within one year of employment with Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center

Current CPR certification (required)
