The candidate will be part of a team of Oracle Database Administrators involved in development as well as maintenance activities. Strong Technical Knowledge of Oracle Databases/Technologies, multiple Platforms (OS), Languages, Oracle Database various versions) and Tools as well as RAC (High Availability), Performance Tuning, Backup and Recovery. Similar Functional Expertise of Database Administration for Supply Chain, Order to Cash, e-Commerce sectors is desirable.The candidate should be a strong communicator and should have previous experience in development and maintenance activities, and should be able to work under pressure.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities & Key Competencies
Experienced with Multiple Projects, Risk Analysis, Proposals, Project Planning, Requirements gathering and Performance Tuning of Databases on various platforms (OS)
Expertise on of Database Administration by Installation of ORACLE (DB Creation, Upgrades, Patching and Support), Cluster ware Implementation, for RAC environment (high availabilities), Performance Tuning
Experience on features of oracle core activities specifically on RMAN, RAC, ASM, Golden Gate, Performance Tuning, Scripting plus regular routine tasks like Oracle Installation, configuration, migration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products, Creation & management of database, user management, table space management, backup and recovery activities).
Strong database and operating system concepts. Experience in scheduling backup, performing media recoveries, table space and data file recoveries and point in time recoveries,
Proficient in DBA tools like Autodba, Toad and OEM. Scheduling tools like Maestro, AppWorx, Grid.
Should have good previous experience in administering Oracle DBs versions 9, 10, 11 in a high availability environment, experience in implementing DB upgrades; configuring and Tuning DB parameters in the parameter file.
Experience in regular database activities, backups monitoring, issue resolving
Experience in tuning Oracle databases, Oracle Applications, Custom Built Applications and poorly performing sqls. creating database instances for development, testing and production, local table space management, re-indexing tables, database refreshes, migration of databases.
Should be able to Coordinate and interface with Oracle support for upgrades, certification issues and tars
Expertise in Application tuning and SQL tuning involving creation of indexes, partitions, gathering statistics and optimizing the queries.
Should be proficient in shell scripts to manage oracle databases.
Should be able to use appropriate tools to monitor the database and identify the bottlenecks.
Expertise in performing application and database tuning, creation of custom schemas, maintaining archived log files
Experience in handle Software & Oracle DB Upgrades, Critical Patch Updates (One off releases & Bug fixes), Patching, performance, administration, troubleshooting.
Experience in capacity planning of new database servers.
Working with the teams be able to communicate effectively on problem status and make ongoing recommendation for operational improvements of production applications.
On-call support duties (on rotation) will cover non-regular business hours, nights and weekends.
Self-motivator with ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervisions or direction.
Should be able to Work in On-shore / Offshore delivery model, follow-up on problem resolutions, facilitate and deployment of application code enhancements to production.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree (BA/BS) from a four year college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years experience as an Oracle DBA.
Operating System: Windows, UNIX, AS400
Languages: SQL, UNIX SHELL SCRIPTING
Database: ORACLE 8/ 9/10/11
Tools: TOAD, OEM, RMAN, SQL*Loader, AutoDBA, Quest, AppWorx
