This is a supervisory position; candidates must have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish the strategic goals and plans of the enterprise. As a Supervisory Distribution Facilities Specialist, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Plans, directs, and supervises all activities of unit, primarily involved in receiving, handling, storing, maintaining
- Directs employees in accomplishing responsibilities related to supply distribution functions
- Serves as a site director primarily involved in the receipt, storage, issue, packing, consolidation, manifesting, and delivery of repair parts and supplies, to include classified and sensitive materials.
- Serves as the primary site-level technical authority on distribution operations and programs within the New London, CT area of operations, interpreting regional and higher level guidance and developing local operating instructions and policies.
Occasional travel - Travel may be required.

NOTE: This position is being filled as Term not-to-exceed (NTE) three years. For current permanent Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) employees, this position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE three years and may be extended up to three years or converted to a permanent promotion without further competition. For all others, if selected, this would be a Term Appointment NTE three years which may be extended three additional years.
To qualify for a Supervisory Distribution Facilities Specialist, your qualifications must include:
A. Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in, or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include:
- Oversees receipt, storage, preservation and packaging of materials in a supply distribution facility.
- Interprets regional and higher level guidance and developing local operating instructions and policies.
- Analyzes, plans and evaluates wholesale and retail logistical support to a variety of customers.
B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience.
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills and abilities) in the following areas.
- Knowledge of supply functions, policies and procedures
