Volvo Group Co-op: Systems Engineering (Spring 2017) in Hagerstown, Maryland

Purpose and Contents of the Role
• The co-op role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the students’ career goals through contacts with professionals in their fields of study. The co-op experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group by working on important and innovative projects. Co-ops are structured learning experiences where interns and our full time professionals work together on projects within their selected organizations. The co-ops allow students to integrate knowledge and skills in manners that are mutually beneficial to the students and Volvo Group.
Responsibilities / Main tasks/Targets
• Advanced Engineering
Main co-op goal will be to support Paperless Factory Project. Support all advanced engineering initiatives and investigations to align with global technology roadmap.
• Volvo Kiosk
Design/Implement updates for kiosk system to be utilized in all production/ office areas and tour ambassadors.
• P3151 Project Support
Planning/Implementation of TnT in Camshaft area and planning for new station installation to support product introductions.
• Kaizen Support
Derive process improvements from a systems standpoint, implement a minimum of 20 Kaizens.
Minimum Education Requirements:
• Applicants must be pursuing a/an Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship/co-op.
