SAP Custom Development is a global SAP organization dedicated to delivering solutions that address market specific or customers’ unique and competitive business requirements on the SAP NetWeaver platform. The mission of SAP Custom Development is to be agile, innovative and flexible in providing high quality, supportable solutions based on SAP HANA. We deliver a full lifecycle of custom development services - from the strategic planning of a development project through delivery and maintenance of the Solution.

As the regional organization for the European region we need to support the whole process from lead generation until successful delivery of a custom-developed project (CDP), or a packaged niche solution, and during a support phase. This requires a strong cooperation with the colleagues in Sales and in Consulting, as well as an even stronger cooperation within the Custom Development organization - at the same time following the general roadmaps of the standard development tracks of SAP.

The Regional Go-to-Market organization of SAP Custom Development responsible for the EMEA (Europe, Middle-East, and Africa) business wants to expand its current Banking/ Financial Services / Consumer Products Industry Demand Generation / Industry Business Development activities.

SAP Custom Development therefore looks for an experienced SAP Custom Development Business Solution Advisor (f/m) in one of these industries – combining proven industry expertise and IT affiliation.

The successful candidate enters a team of highly-motivated senior industry specialists, who identify and drive the demand for Custom Software solutions in their respective industry.

Within our team, we practice a trust-based working model. If you need to work flexibly from another location or at another time you can do so given your manager’s agreement.


The candidate:

  • needs to bring an excellent Banking/Financial Services or Consumer Products background, proven by working in a Financial Services or Consumer Product company, or in a respective service company,

  • has gained >3 years of experience in Consulting of the respective SAP Solutions, and has implemented one of SAP’s respective modules herself/himself,

  • can prove a genuine SAP software expertise,

  • demonstrates a strong track record in Demand Generation and Business Development activities,

  • brings the ability to understand and explain complex technical environments, at the same time reducing complexity where reasonable,

  • possesses high functional credibility, to convince customer’s business and IT representatives, and to build confidence into the offering of SAP Custom Development,

  • fluently speaks German and English.

As an Industry Business Solution Advisor for SAP Custom Development you will:

  • develop SAP Custom Development’s software pipeline by industry-specific Demand Generation activities, internally and externally, for existing markets but also new market segments,

  • perform Business Development tasks to structurally drive the demand for industry-specific software development projects,

  • visit external events to understand market trends,

  • visit customers to identify the right Custom Development activities facilitating their need for innovation,

  • visit internal events to inform our Sales colleagues about how to best position Custom Development topics

  • educate our Go-to-Market teams about hot innovation topics with high commercial impact for Custom Development in your industry,

  • setup activities to raise the internal awareness about our capabilities,

  • develop customer-specific demand generation plans,

  • work closely together with different internal SAP teams (such as Consulting, Standard Business Development, License Sales).


Required skills

The successful candidate

  • actively drives demand generation by identifying new themes, functional gaps or optimization potential in the standard solution as well as in the customer‘s landscape,

  • is able to sketch solutions/architectures together with the customer, integrating considerations on feasibility and commercial impact,

  • knows the high-level capabilities of the underlying SAP Standard components,

  • acts pro-actively and success-driven, with a “can do” attitude,

  • is able to create professionally looking presentations – and possesses extraordinary communication and presentation skills.

Preferred skills

The successful candidate additionally can develop a very high-level judgment on efforts of a specific solution approach.


  • Minimum 10 years professional experience in the Financial Services or Consumer Products environment.

  • Managed customer relationship over an extended period.

  • Excellent understanding of overall SAP portfolio, and the respective industry-specific standard solutions of SAP.

  • Proven successful experience in Sales and Demand Generation.
