HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Labor and Delivery Charge Nurse in Houston, Texas


    Under the general supervision of the Director, Maternal/ Child Department, and the Assistant Director, Maternal/Child Department, the Charge Nurse for Labor and Delivery assumes responsibility for all functions in the Labor and Delivery areas on designated shifts. In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Maternal/Child Department, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in Labor and Delivery on designated shifts. The Charge Nurse, Labor and Delivery:

    A. Assumes responsibility for all Labor and Delivery functions during the designated shift. B. Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff. C. Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided in the Labor and Delivery on designated shift.

D. Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for Labor and Delivery with collaboration with the Assistant Director/Director, Maternal/ Child Department, in unusual

*_EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS_**:* A. Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. B. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice in pro-vision of clinical nursing of the childbearing family with emphasis on leadership and management experience. C. Current verification of competency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation including newborn resuscitation; ACLS and NPR preferred. (American Heart required)
