Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Tax Accountant II. This position will reside at the corporate office in Irving, Texas.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS
Respond to straightforward correspondence with external Revenue bodies with little supervision.
Review standard US and Canadian sales tax returns, assisting in the review and preparation of more complex computations.
Directly assist in other areas relating to sales and use taxes, including Fuel Tax, Excise and Severance Tax.
Organize and coordinate the handling of Sales and Use tax Audits of medium to large scale.
Reconcile tax accounts in General Ledger as required.
Use research and knowledge of relevant sales and use tax laws in the US and Canada to ensure the proper allocation of the tax laws regarding the taxable/exempt nature of transactions.
Support process improvements that will improve the operating efficiency.
Assist with special projects as assigned by the department manager.
Assist in Sales Tax planning and implementing the resulting strategies for US and Canadian tax matters.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
1-3 years tax/accounting related experience required.
Excellent computer skills (MS Office), solid knowledge of Excel.
Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
