Proactively approach customers, slice, weigh and package a variety of items as requested, and answer any questions about products or service offered

Slice a variety of meats and cheeses throughout the day to maintain product levels on wafer trays and ensure the most efficient customer service at the counter

Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

Work with team members to maintain the overall appearance of the department, ensure cases are well-merchandised, properly signed, and stocked with supplies to complete tasks efficiently

Unload and break down deliveries, stock cases and coolers; refill to meet customer needs while rotating for freshness

Follow Wegmans core recipes and job aides when preparing all products for use in the Prepared Foods department, ensure a consistent outcome in line with Wegmans standards of quality

Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines, and Simplification 5S procedures

Preferred Skills and Experience

Customer Service experience, preferably in a food service industry, grocery or retail setting

Experience working in a deli and/or using a deli slicer

Work Environment

Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-works in a fast-paced environment

Typical motions include repetitive grasping, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, and lifting

Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds occasionally

Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold temperature

May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)

Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
