BAE Systems Medical Technician / EMT in Jacksonville, Florida
Administers duties and responsibilities associated with pre-placement / post offer physical, annual medical surveillance, first response to on-site medical emergencies and pre-placement / post offer and random screening in accordance with established company policy and state and federal regulations.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job. Incumbent(s) performs one or more of the following duties.)
Conducts pre-placement / post offer physical, annual medical surveillance, first response to on-site medical emergencies and pre-employment and random exam drug screening.
Performs secondary portion of physical exams in compliance with established company standards and in conjunction with independent contract physicians, to include: employee medical history, employee vital signs, visual acuity, hearing baseline, pulmonary function testing, EKG, blood baselines and drug testing.
Responsible for assessing and treating first aid injuries and/or refer to appropriate level of medical care.
Perform follow-up care of injuries, referring to appropriate level of care.
Perform data entry for all drug testing, treatment and medical surveillance.
Maintain medical equipment-calibrations, appropriate inventory and cleanliness
Responsible for projecting medical supplies expenditure for budgetary control.
Required Skills and Education
Education: Associates Degree and 2
year(s) related experience or High School Diploma or GED and 5 year(s) related
experience. Applicable State EMT Advanced or EMT Paramedic certification.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: A. Physical Tasks
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, climb aboard ships.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to utilize both hands to grasp rails while climbing, to hold and carry tools and equipment, and to
Ability to withstand extreme heat in outside climate or confined spaces.
Physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment, as prescribed under OSHA
Ability to stand for a minimum of 2 hours while conducting regular work duties.
Ability to respond to voice commands, audible alarms.
B. Working Conditions employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts;
high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while working inside and loud while working outside.
